Day 1: Meet and greet

We will pick you up from the Jorge Chavez INT Airport and take you to the hotel appointed for this trip, help you build bikes and go over a bike check list. We will reach Morro Solar, the closest mountain to the city and around Miraflores. This deserted mountain next to the ocean has a lot of history. Not only it is surrounded by Inca ruins but it also held an Independence battle Peru fought against Chile. Morro Solar is a Battle Field declared Cultural Patrimony, it also holds a big White Christ statue with a great view of the city.

Day 2: OLLEROS

This trail is one top of the Bucket List rides of all times. This is a full day ride with some serious shuttling to get to the top. Expect a 3,430M drop and a 50 km ride divided in 2 important sections: the trail section and the river bed pedal.

The top of the trail section is hard pack soil. The soil changes once you get to the Olleros town and changing as you descent. As you ride the trail section, vegetation, soil and climate will change a lot. The trail will get sandier and steeper as you descend (no joke). We can ride this trail part twice. The Trail Section is 20 kms and 2,100m drop.

The pedal exit on the river bed is cool but can be a bit long and pedally if you are here for the DH. This pedal exit is now optional due to a dirt road made 4 years ago. If we choose to ride this second part, we can only ride the trail section once. Once the trail part ends, 4 different dry rivers meet and create one major river bed that goes all the way to Playa El Huayco, San Bartolo. The river bed section is 30 kms long and has a 1,300m drop and looks like you are riding on the moon.

After riding Olleros we will head south to pass the next 2 nights in CHINCHA, 200 kms south from Lima.

Day 3: CHINCHA

Chincha is a dessert town near the coast 2 – 2:30 hours south from Lima. It holds a busy town, some industrial operations and big agricultural operations. From Chincha we will head to the east for 2 more hours, pass the dessert and start climbing a mountain road until 3,600m close to the CHAVIN town.

Few people know similar versions with a lot of hiking involved. We put a lot of time to get the right connections and make it a longer ride with very Little pushing.

This ride is very similar to the crest parts of OLLEROS but LONGER and probably is the best ride close to Lima. Expect endless deserted crests that will make you feel like riding on the moon. Totally worth it!

Day 4: Tauripampa

Tauripampa town is located at 3,500 meters over sea level to the east of Cañete and Asia (a top beach destination). This is an old trail people used to communicate the highlands with the coastal valley area of Imperial, Cañete. There is no car communication until the dry river.

Few people know this trail. It is an old trail with terrain changing as you drop. Expect loose rocks on the top, followed by endless single tracks with some technical parts, some creek crossing, there even is a part the trail is carved on massive rock sections and ends on a sandy trail leading to a dry river.

The ride has 20 kms of single-track going down ending on a dry river called Ihuanco with a total distance of 40 kms to Imperial. Our Holy Trails van will enter the dry river to meet us after the first 15 kms of this dry river section. This top section of the dry river is fast with a couple small climbs but with a high speed average. The rest of the dry river is a lot flatter, riders are free to pedal all the way out and complete the 61 kms or take advantage of the air ac in the van to escape from the dessert after 35 kms of riding.

We will have lunch at a CEVICHE and sea food restaurant close to the end and head back to Lima.
